BYD has opened a state-of-the-art all-terrain circuit in Zhengzhou, China, marking a historic milestone for New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in the country. This facility, among the first of its kind in China, is designed to cater to track racing, professional racer training, and a variety of immersive driving experiences, fostering a thriving NEV culture.

The Zhengzhou All-Terrain Circuit spans eight distinctive experience zones, offering visitors a comprehensive platform to explore the capabilities of modern electric vehicles. From tackling water crossings and sand dunes to testing off-road terrains, the facility promises a one-stop destination for NEV enthusiasts.

One of the circuit’s standout features is the Indoor Sand Dune, certified by Guinness World Records for being the largest and highest of its kind.

Constructed with 6,200 tons of sand replicating the Alxa Desert, it boasts a 29.6-meter vertical drop and a 28-degree slope, delivering an authentic dune-bashing adventure. Complementing this is the 70-meter-long Wading Pool, designed to showcase the Yangwang U8’s exceptional water-crossing abilities through the advanced e4 platform, emphasizing safety and stability in extreme conditions.

Safety and performance are central to BYD’s design. The Kick Plate simulates icy surfaces using wet, polished cement with movable suction plates, allowing drivers to practice controlled emergency maneuvers.

Similarly, the Low Friction Circle—a 44-meter-diameter track with 30,000 smooth basalt bricks and a 3 mm water layer—replicates icy conditions. With BYD’s millisecond-level electronic control and intelligent body systems, drivers can experience stable, controlled drifting safely.

The circuit also features a 1,758-meter Race Track with nine curves and a 550-meter straight, perfect for testing acceleration and steering precision.

The 15,300-square-meter Dynamic Paddock introduces over a dozen scenarios, including slalom, moose testing, and automated parking, demonstrating BYD’s intelligent technologies.

Meanwhile, the Off-Road Park provides 27 varied terrains, making even beginner-level courses accessible for urban SUVs equipped with intelligent all-wheel drive systems.

To cater to different skill levels, the experience package at Zhengzhou Circuit is divided into four tiers: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Super VIP. Pricing ranges from $83 for the entry-level experience to $927 for the Super VIP package, offering exclusive access and personalized training for enthusiasts seeking a premium driving adventure.

Looking beyond Zhengzhou, BYD plans to expand its all-terrain circuit network with new locations in Hefei and Shaoxing. The Shaoxing facility will span 2,000 acres at a 500-meter altitude, offering a vast off-road experience for NEV enthusiasts.

In collaboration with the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China (CAMF), BYD has launched the New Track Scheme to engage over one million users and train 100 professional racers, redefining the landscape of NEV racing in China.
